I am truly energized by my work

By: Charlotte Slabbers
I started working at Capgemini Invent about a year ago as an experienced consultant within the financial sector. I wanted to do more with technology and work on large customer accounts. I also had the ambition of becoming a team leader, and Capgemini Invent gave me that opportunity. What do I think of working at Capgemini Invent? I’ll tell you all about it.

In charge of your own career

At Capgemini Invent, you’re surrounded by colleagues who want to get the best out of themselves and the best out of you as well. You’re given numerous responsibilities right from the start, and you’re in charge of your own career. For example, after just a few months I got the chance to become a team leader. This position allowed me to coach and guide colleagues in their careers, while I was still early on in mine. That is extremely motivating!

A good work-life balance

I work at the client's location during the week, but on Fridays I see my teammates and colleagues at our own office in Utrecht. This has enabled me to form a good relationship with my team. We regularly organize team outings and pizza nights where we exchange knowledge and experiences with one another. Once in a while I’ll work in the evening during a busy period, but that’s more the exception than the rule. If one of your goals is to work abroad, Capgemini Invent offers you the chance to do so. Capgemini has an international character that is reflected in the workplace in Utrecht, in meetings and trainings abroad, and on location at the client. If you'd rather work closer to home, that’s also possible, of course.

You don't have to be a technician to work with technology

Technological developments happen at lightning speed and require creativity. Women are more creative than men by nature, so that gives me plenty of opportunities. You don't have to be a technician to work with technology, but you do have to know how it works. After all, technology will soon be an important aspect of every role, from product design to marketing & sales and everything in between.

I am very energized by my work and I never stop learning

There is a lot of variety in my work. I collaborate with multiple Capgemini Invent colleagues on challenging assignments at the client. These assignments usually have a short duration, between 3 and 9 months. This keeps my learning curve steep. Capgemini Invent also gives me the opportunity to develop myself. I take part in training programs alongside my international colleagues, which has allowed me to build up a large network in a short period of time. In addition, I am equipped with the tools I need to be a good team leader. At the moment, for instance, I’m working with other managers to set KPIs for our teams and hold career discussions.

I have many friendly, engaged, inspiring colleagues both in the Netherlands and abroad. I get to learn a great deal about new technologies in a short amount of time, and I have the opportunity to work at large, international and top-tier clients. I’m a team leader, I work alongside my Capgemini Invent colleagues and I have a good, healthy balance between my work and my private life. In short: it's the ideal job for me!
